“SMOKING KIDS” BY FRIEKE JANSSENS

After seeing that infamous video of a chain-smoking Indonesian toddler, Frieke Janssens created a photography series entitled ‘Smoking Kids,’ which displays tobacco-puffing kids of various backgrounds.

Since smoking is a societal norm among adults, she decided to use children as her subjects to create a powerful imagery that has the viewer focus on the act of smoking itself rather than make assumptions about who’s doing it. Check out the rest of the series here.

p.s. Don’t fret! The cigarettes and smoke are from props!

What do you think???

Council pick-up

In my Suburb at the moment people are getting ready for council pick-up. Which basically means the council is coming around to your house to collect all the crap you have put outside your house that you don’t want anymore.

Great idea in theory, and great for the second hand lovers and store owners who can get all this stuff for free. But what surprises me is, as I was driving to work, this one particular house had actually set up undercover areas for all their shit on the street. Sure that’s commitment but what got me was the amount of stuff they hand. I almost took a picture but I was driving and didn’t want to cause a major accident at 6:45 in the morning.

So there were, mattresses, lamps, old couches, desks, BBQ’s, computers, TV’s!!
Every second house had all this stuff, what I want to know is where the hell do you keep it all. There isn’t not that much space in houses.

UNLESS… They are hoarders :o has anyone seen that show? Do you have council pick up where you are, or do your neighbors have shit piled up in their yards???
